Lemon Sauce

Using our Kirk’s Lemon Roux to make a tasty tangy white Lemon sauce to form the perfect accompaniment to chicken or fish.

Lemon Sauce

  • Ingredients

    • 400ml whole milk
    • 50g (6Tsp) Kirk’s Lemon Roux.
    • Salt, to taste
    • Ground white pepper, to taste
    • Finely chopped chives or parsley

  • Preparation

    1. Bring the milk back up to a rolling simmer over a low to medium heat and add Irish Butter Roux. Stir continuously until the Roux melts into the milk – approx 2 minutes.
    2. Cook the mixture at a low/medium heat for for 5-10 mins, stirring continuously, until the sauce has thickened. Season to taste with pepper and salt.
    3. Add the chopped parsley or chives and stir in and serve.
    4. To vary the thickness simply add more milk or a little more Irish Butter Roux and stir in 5 minutes before serving.
